How Can I Adopt

LongRun generally has over thirty horses in our foster care program that are awaiting adoption into a safe, kind and loving home.

These horses have varying levels of athletic ability and individual personalities – we try to match you up with a horse best suited to your requirements.

The Procedure

  • Complete and submit the Adoption Form.
  • LongRun's Adoption Coordinator will contact you within a week of receiving your submission.
  • You and the Adoption Coordinator will determine the horse that is best suited to your needs.
  • An appointment will be made with the farm currently fostering the horse at which time you will view and meet the horse.
  • A LongRun representative will inspect the horse's new home.
  • Once we receive a positive farm inspection report and reference check, the process is almost complete.*
  • I understand and agree that as a potential adopter I might be subjected to a credit check by LongRun.
  • A $750.00 adoption fee is required for a sound, rideable horse.
  • Companion animals are $1.00 but still require a dedicated, knowledgeable adopter and a high level of comfort and care.
  • After payment is made, you will read and sign our standard Adoption Agreement. This agreement is written solely for the protection of the animal.
  • On receipt of a signed agreement and payment of the adoption fee the horse is yours to take home.
  • After a successful standard two year follow-up period, full ownership will be signed over to you.

*Consider this adoption very carefully – we want this to be a permanent home for one of our deserving thoroughbreds.
