Sizzling
spent many months in our program waiting for the right
adoptive home. When Robin Clayton met him, it was love
at first sight. She found Sizzling to be the kind, cuddly
type of horse that she enjoys and felt that his laid
back nature would make him the perfect hack horse that
she was looking for.
'Sizzling'
has been settling into his new home in Port Elgin for
the past couple of weeks and Robin reports that his
presence in the small herd on her parent's farm has
caused quite a stir. Her two aged geldings, who up to
this point had shunned the Clydesdale filly in their
midst, were quite perturbed when Sizzling took a liking
to her. They immediately set about reclaiming the filly
but Sizzling quietly and patiently continues to win
her away. Tolerated now by the two old guys, Sizzling
waits until they are engrossed in their hay before he
gradually moves the filly away from them. Robin says
it is quite entertaining to watch the old boys finally
look up, realize their woman has deserted them again
and decide they had better rustle her back from the
upstart!
Robin
has walked and trotted Sizzling around briefly and was
pleased that he was very accepting of this despite not
being ridden for well over a year. She looks forward
to a summer of working with Sizzling, gaining his trust
and spending some time hitting the trails. Having had
to euthanize a beloved mare in the recent past, Robin
is hoping to fill this painful void with her new equine
companion. We hope Sizzling is everything Robin had
hoped for, and more, and we wish them many happy years
together.
